(1) If the registered owner of a land dies and the land is registered in his own name, or if a land is acquired by a person and the registration is canceled, the relevant person shall submit an application to the land registry office within thirty-five days of such action and have the name transfer and registration canceled.
(2) If a person submits an application for cancellation of registration and registration after the expiry of the period specified in sub-section (1), the Land Registry Office shall cancel the registration and registration of such land in the name of the applicant after taking a fee of one hundred rupees, regardless of the time elapsed.
